ConnectStaff has an immediate requirement in the National Capital Region for an AWS Cloud Engineer to support the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and (subsequently) the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The AWS Cloud Engineer should have experience operating multi-account AWS environments, interacting effectively with customers and development teams, and gathering and analyzing requirements for the design of new systems and infrastructure. The Engineer will be a part of the operations team supporting development, test, QA and production environments.  Must have the ability to see big picture requirements, distill them into concrete tasks and execute on them in a timely fashion.

Clearance:  Must be eligible for a public trust clearance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day support of operational environments for us and our customers
  • Work closely with operations and development personnel to provision, support and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure
  • Maintain a highly available production infrastructure
  • Assist with the design and development of new infrastructure and support systems
  • Provide application support for product customers
  • Design and automate currently manual processes around infrastructure support, testing and product deployment
  • Understand and contribute to the creation of system support documents, operational run books, and build recipes for server configuration
  • Operate the platform within our security and privacy guidelines
  • Learn on the job and explore new technologies with little supervision

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Expertise in the design, setup, operations and support of a complex, multi-account AWS infrastructure based primarily on Centos Linux
  • DevOps skills around continuous integration and testing as well as experience with Ansible, Jenkins, and Cloud Formation are also needed
  • High-level troubleshooting experience and a passion for providing excellent service to all internal and external customers
  • Experience with the following:
    • Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar technology
    • AWS Cloud Formation
    • Jenkins
    • Scripting language (Python, NodeJS, etc.)
    • Databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and Elasticsearch
    • Appian knowledge desired but not required
    • Python scripting is a plus
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Education & Work Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience with Linux systems administration with a focus on deployment/configuration automation
  • 3+ years working with AWS, deep understanding of AWS concepts, and fluency with the AWS APIs/command line tools
